EMERGENCY NURSE MANAGER

The Nurse Manager will provide leadership and assume the responsibility, authority and accountability for nursing practice and delivery of care to patients and families in the Emergency Department. The Nurse Manager will plan, organize, direct and evaluate the unit’s functioning in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and policies of Horizon Health Network. As well, the successful candidate will collaborate with patient, family, health care team, other hospital services and community based services to ensure the effective provision of patient care.

Qualifications:

• Current active membership in NANB.

• Bachelor of Nursing Degree.

• Minimum of seven years of clinical nursing experience of which three years are recent experience in an acute care setting.

• Progressive nursing experience in which leadership ability and competency as a practitioner of emergency nursing have been demonstrated

• Progressive experience in a supervisory and/or management role

• Highly motivated

• Demonstrated leadership skills

• Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills

• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills

• Demonstrates good judgment and problem solving abilities

• High level of maturity and initiative demonstrated

• Ability to establish effective working relationships

• Possesses good analytical skills

• Able to function independently

• Good previous work and attendance record

• Physically capable of performing duties

• Demonstrated adherence to legislation and Horizon Health Network Confidentiality Policy to ensure all patient, business, financial and employee information is accessed on an as need to know basis

• Patient safety is a critical aspect of quality healthcare. Successful candidates must be accountable for creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating effectively and responding to adverse events

• Written and spoken competence in English is required
