Social Worker -Emergency

Horizon Health Network has an immediate opportunity for a Permanent Full time bilingual Emergency Social Worker/SW-1 to be involved in the planning and provision of professional social work services. Provide a full range of social work services to the patients and families of Horizon Health Network including assessment, counselling, intervention, treatment and therapy in order to resolve problems, which interfere with successful medical treatment and/or delay appropriate discharge. Emphasis will be primarily on Emergency patients and their families

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor or Masters of Social Work with 5 years experience
Membership in the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers and the Canadian Association of Social Workers.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required
Experience in a health oriented setting and an understanding of psychosocial difficulties as they relate to a patients illness and/or adjustment to disability is desirable.
Ability to provide crisis intervention and short term individual and family counselling
Ability to work co-operatively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in an emergency department
Knowledge of community resources which can assist with patient’s treatment
Ability to document accurate and pertinent information.
Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
Good interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated adherence to legislation and Horizon Health Network Zone 7 Miramichi confidentiality policy to ensure all patient, business, financial and employee information is accessed on an as need to know basis.
Ability to perform the duties of the position.
Good work record.
