Clinical Social Worker

Horizon Health Network has an immediate opportunity for a temporary full time Social Worker/SW-1 to work in partnership with other departments, agencies and professional team members of the Miramichi Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program. The successful candidate will provide assessment, intervention, counselling, group therapy and referral and collaborative services to individuals affected by chemical dependency. You will facilitate and participate in community mobilization by providing education, prevention and training in chemical dependency issues.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work degree
Membership or eligibility for membership in the New Brunswick and Canadian Association of Social Work.
Ability to communicate effectively in order to perform social work responsibilities in Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program
3 years past experience in the field of addictions and demonstrated skills in community addictions work.
Previous experience working with chemically dependent clients and utilizing a Harm Reduction Approach.
Good previous work/attendance record
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
Suicide Intervention Training
Experience in PowerPoint, preparing and delivering effective presentations, Internet and other methods of research
High level of communication skills, writing skills, self-motivation and initiative
Ability to fulfill all the duties and responsibilities as outlined in the job description
Demonstrated adherence to legislation and Health Authority confidentiality policy to ensure all patients, business, financial and employee information is accessed on an as need to know basis.
Must be able to work evenings/weekends as required
Written and spoken competence in English is required
