Clinical Psychologist (TFT)

Miramichi Regional Health Authority has a temporary full time vacancy for a Clinical Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Department  The position involves the provision of a full range of Psychological services to clients, their families and groups, including assessment, counseling, case planning and management, crisis intervention, suicide intervention and prevention, treatment, rehabilitation referral, debriefings, consultation and collaboration.  As part of a multidisciplinary team the position requires the responsibility for an assigned caseload, preparation and management of reports and other documentation; the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, community and volunteer agencies, other government departments, agencies and health care professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from University with a Masters in Psychology with 4 years supervised work experience and final licensing requirements (written and oral exam through the CPNB) or with a Doctorate in Psychology with 1 year supervised work experience.

  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the CPNB.

  • Demonstrated proficiency (oral) at an “Advanced” Level (3) in both official languages as demonstrated in testing.

  • High level of interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team setting and independently.

  • High level of communication skills, writing skills, highly motivation, and demonstrate initiative and flexibility.

  • Ability to fulfill all the duties and responsibilities as outlined in the position description.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and adherence to relevant legislation (e.g. Family  

  • Services Act) and policies (e.g. Confidentiality).

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours including evenings and weekends.

  • Must have reliable vehicle for transportation as required.

  • Must have a strong knowledge of Mental Health Issues.

  • Must have strong knowledge of DSM-IV and its different classifications.

  • Must be able to accurately diagnose, plan a treatment and deliver a treatment   

  • program.

  • Must have a strong knowledge in different therapeutic approaches.

  • Must have six months recent experience in Mental Health.

  • Must demonstrate ability in providing case management.
