Three Ways to Use Email When Promoting Your Website

You’ll have a difficult time building your platform, even with great SEO, if you do not know who your users are in the first place. One part of learning about your users is obtaining important information such as an email address.

However, many of your users may passively consume your content and fail to enter an email into the convenient form you provided for them. Fortunately, there are several ways to encourage users to give you an email.

1. Offer Something of Value

A regular user of your website may wish that they had access to more content. One way to incentivize customers to sign-up is to deliver some of your content through emails. You could offer a free e-book and regular weekly or even daily articles on exclusive tips.

Another common offer is regular coupons. This could be for products you are selling through an e-commerce website or coupons you are able to offer through a deal with a partner. To truly offer something of value, you must understand who your audience is and what may be useful to them. Click here to learn more about SEO.

2. Place the Email Sign-Up Form in the Right Location

There are certain locations you shouldn’t place the form such as the:

  • Header
  • Footer
  • Nearby any third-part ads

These areas are less likely for the user to notice or might be mistaken for ads. Instead, there are several better options.

You could have a pop-up that covers the post. This can annoy the user and might be confused for a pop-up ad, however. You may also place the sign-up form in the middle of the post and require that the user provide an email to continue reading. This can be annoying, however, and may simply cause the user to click off.

A floating box will move as the user scrolls so she can always see the box and can easily enter an email address. However, the scroll box can be annoying as it covers content.

Placing the form at the bottom of the post can be effective because you can make an effective call-to-action to enter an email address.

3. Use the Email in Search Engine Optimization

Email marketing can bolster your SEO efforts. You will be able to reduce bounce rates because you will be aiming for every targeted traffic that will be less likely to click off your content.

By having an email, you can send a survey to your customers to find out the intent that they have behind their queries. That way, you can better tailor your content to your users to create quality content that is great for SEO.
